Once And Future Geek Blog is up and going!

Just a quick announcement:

My Once and Future Geek blog is up and going. I have yet to create my own background and header for it, but I figured I'd start posting anyway, just to get the search engines crawling. :-)

So, without further blah-blah, here is the link.

Peace, Love and Awesomeness,

Finally!

So I finally managed to create an appropriately-sized background. Problem is, with the way the design came out, the right side of the BG won't show at all at the 1800x1600 size. Managed to make the entire BG less than 300 kb by reducing the image quality when exporting/saving. (That's one thing about the newer versions of GIMP I don't understand. Why "export" to PNG or JPG when the "save as" function worked just as well?)

Yet in order for you to see the finished work, I have to post the pic here:
The background whose right side can't be seen...

Interestingly enough, Blogger resized it instantly, which is helpful.

So, that's another blog project done and off the "table." And all the while eating my breakfast! Time to go get some other stuff accomplished!

Slowly I Draw...Pixel by Pixel...

Getting a background created specifically for this blog has been more than a little frustrating.

For example, Blogger's upload size for a 1800x1600 px background is limited to 300 kb.

Secondly, the ideas I have in mind--or the ones I've been messing around with in GIMP are going WAY over that limit, into the MB level, which, of course, "mega-bytes." :P Maybe it's because in GIMP, you can only "Ctrl-Z" so far back and then it stops...and the more info and layers you add, the bigger the byte size gets.

So, until I can get things the way I want them and still be only 300 kb or less, I've uploaded the background that I used on my jewelry store.

I'm very close though...seeing this other background on my blog's given me an idea to make it look awesome, yet simple enough to meet Blogger's 300 kb restriction.

The jewelry store, by the way, is something I will blog about later, maybe tomorrow. I just want to get this blog's background done and off the "drawing board," as it were.

Until then, I think it's bedtime. I have other things I need to do, like wash clothes I've purchased for selling on eBay and I need to get pictures taken and items listed, among other things that need doing before I will allow myself to have a Who-fest. I'm right at the end of Season 2--and from the description I read on Hulu, I think I'd better have the tissues ready.

Love, Peace and Pixelations,
Kat ^.^

Ch-Ch-Changes!

I sometimes think my blogs could start their own reality show called "Flip This Blog."

I kid you not. I started with some ideas that were okay when I thought of them, but because I changed, the blogs HAD to change right along with me. BQ (my best buddy Q) wondered what was wrong with the old "Foolbard" idea (the blog that is now "Of Grails, TARDISes and Towels"). I just told him the truth: it felt like an old, stale idea whose purpose I'd really and truly forgotten and that I've changed, so the blogs I have need to change with me.

This blog, now "Time and a Wyrd," used to be my old "Dine with the Divine" blog. Let's put it this way: I've put in as many hours reconstructing, moving things around and whatnot, I could have easily just completely deleted "Dine With the Divine," and started over with new posts. But I've already got Analytics and AdSense plus my Amazon affiliate stuff set up. It would be a pain in the behind to redo EVERYthing!

The only thing that's not showing up right now is the AdSense and the "Followers" gadgets. That's mostly due to "Googlogger" changing their display code for SSL (secure socket layer) sites as well as needing to verify this and that for my AdSense account thanks to their security changes. Which is fine. When updating blogs, update the nitty-gritty details that make a monetized blog worth, well, monetizing. :P

The only blogs that either did not get completely deleted or name-changed (I feel like I should have naming ceremonies or something, I've done so much "flipping" and "re-creating") were "21st Century Flower Child Sunshine Health" and "Once and Future Geek," both of which I will not link to from here yet because there's nothing to read on one and only one post on the other.

I swear on the Doctor's sonic screwdriver that there will be more posts. Just give me time to finish this main blog and some more fiddling with OAFG, some light schedule-making and it's "Allons-y!" with the blog posts from here on out! (Don't ask me why I've taken on David Tennant's Doctor's quirks...I can only say it's a Whovian thing. Though as both a fan of Dr Who AND Jon Anderson, I'd have a VERY hard time making up my mind which ship I'd fly on: the Moorglade Mover from "Olias" or the TARDIS. My Libra side asks, "Apart from the fact that the Doctor is a fictional character--why can't I alternate?")

Anyway, here's to fresh starts, blog regeneration, and weaving other good things into my life that come of really starting one's own business. Pretty soon, I will have more updates and postings on what's going on with this whole new world of mine.

And yes, I will explain why I have named my business what I've named it. It's fairly summarized in the header image text, but I figured I'd break it down further for everyone who's curious.

Now, onto bed! Allons-y! ;-)
